I think that by presuming that everything is wrong or potentially wrong, there is no solid ground for staying balanced. Keeping someone off balance, is the perfect way to control their behaviour and make them submissive. You can always say it will take a thousand years to reach reach perfection. This therby, makes the person constantly do your will, and never questioning it. Many burn out, or turn to alcohol, or live a double life with dissonnace, giving a blank cheque to please an entity that can't be pleased or satiated. Also part of the witness identity is the is the antithesis of many things in society at large. This image, more or less, serves to point out, that society is not on the side of God and they stand out more as God's own. Image and control is everything.

Would Blondie or Mary ever make it as Elders in your old Congregation?
by RULES & REGULATIONS inwe know the wts will never except woman as elders.in the last year as a member of jwd,i have learned more from blondie and mary than any elder in my congregation.all the elders in my congregation look like they go thru the motions.they are more like policy enforcers than teachers.. do you think that by excepting woman, some men would be embarassed to how little they know?
does the wts know some woman would better teachers?
is it more like a men's club?

I have been constantly amazed at the intelligence and knowledge of female posters on this board. Most know far more than me. I never realized this before as a JW because they are not given roles in the congregations. What a stupid bunch of chauvanist A-holes. I wonder, under the constructs of the org. however, that if women were given power in an elder capacity, that they would not fall prey to the same mentality. Power always corrupts with indifference. Being nurturers by nature however might give greater compassion overall. You intelligent women wouldn't kick me now out would you? I'd be a good boy.

Bethel Romeos - throwing your daughters at them
by Uzzah init was raised in a comment quoted in the national post article today:.
on speaking engagements at kingdom halls throughout the country, fathers would sometimes even offer up their daughters in marriage to him because of the prestige of his position, he said.. have any of the gals here experienced this?
did your parents 'parade you' around visiting bethelites or try to set you up with them?

This forum is helping me realize the insane dynamics involved in peoples warped veiws of what is considered lofty employment and marriageable material. What a crock of shit! In the real world such things are to be pitied. The watchtowers great spin doctors can piss on you and tell you it's raining!

Do you feel as if you have to justify why you aren't JW anymore?
by JH inare we playing there game, by having to justify ourselves, why we don't go to meetings anymore, or why we left the org?.

I like that quote of Blondies. It's a keeper. Forget about justifying the doctrine. I won't even start with that, towards their closed minds. The injustice alone, stands on it's own merit. They need to justify! It's the other way around. Everything thing they teach is unnatural and can't be validated. Victims don't need to defend themselves, but the perpetrators do.

Living Alone - Love it or Loathe it?
by Crumpet inwell i have been living alone now for a week for the first time in about 6 years and apart from one or two minor episodes i am really really enjoying the freedom of it.
i feel like a weight has been lifted.
i feel free again - a tiny bit lonely at night - but mostly i think i've recaptured that long lost spring in my step.

I live in complete solitude and have so for the last 4 years. I've always had people around me too much, fulfilling there desires and wishes, never thinking about myself. Being alone isn't so bad. You can get much closer to your inner child and get more peace and focus, without the distractions. There's only yourself to worry about too. Nothing says it has to be that way forever either, but I feel like I have more control now.

Judge's Decision on JWs Stir Up Jews
by Kenneson ina judge in israel has ruled that the haifa convention center must rent space to jehovah's witnesses because it offers its goods and service to the public.

the ruling has been ratified by the attorney general's office.

That's funny! Now the Jews have to compete with the new and improved form of Judaism, coming back to bite them in the ass. Hilarious

Elders in denial?
by Bobhere inafter i was df and seriously questioning my faith in the org ( won't call it the truth) i gave a copy of coc to an elder i have known since i was a young man.
he read it found it disturbing and said that he didn't realize problems that he found at his level of involvement went so high.
i then gave him a copy of "in search of christian freedom" he never read it said that he didn't want to question his faith in the brothers.

Talk about cognitive dissonance. I always used to think that the dangerous ones were the ones who knew nothing and just did as they were told. Higher intelligence just means a higher level of self deception. Anyone can ratrionalize and assimilate information to suit there purpose.

It is certainly important to feel like a part of the human race. It is a need, to belong to something. One of the drawbacks of tribal thinking in the witnesses is that you only progress as fast as the rest of the tribe because there mandate is to not disagree with them. This is a tribe that stunts emotional maturity and exploration of the world and self ,within it's framework. It's a corporate tribe with no feeling and no soul.
